Lupines

A field of purple, pink, and blue Lupines soaking up the late afternoon sun. Photography by Bridget M. Designs.

One of the first things that made me feel right at home when I moved to New England from my maritime home in Atlantic Canada, were the fields of tall, brightly coloured lupines swaying in the summer breeze every June.

They used to line the space separating the lanes of the highway, like little parade goers, on the long drive back from Ontario in the Summer. It was one of the prettiest things I’d ever seen, just endless miles of purple, blue, white and pink flowers marking our path!

Now, every year I look for them in special fields, along the roadside or at pretty look offs.

It seems I’ve become the parade goer, lining their route, snapping photos of them as they dance together in the wind!

Do you have a favourite wildflower memory?
